MCS Spelling Bee

Posted on 2015-01-22

We were all on the edge of our seats as students competed in our Annual MCS Spelling Bee held on January 22nd.  Two students from each 1st through 8th grade class qualified to spell in our school competition to represent MCS at the next local level.  Kenan Strahm was our first place winner after an intense round with Shelby England.  Kenan will represent MCS at a community spelling bee offered through the St. Lous Post-Dispatch and McKendree University to qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee.  Congratulations to all of our finalist for a job well done.

First Lego League Robotics Regional Competition

Posted on 2014-12-06

We are proud to announce that the MCS ROBOLIONS team 1717 has won Best Robot Design in the Middle Illinois division of the First Lego League competition.  Our team of seven 8th graders and one 6th grader had the opportunity to compete against sixteen teams from around the area on Saturday, December 6th.   The team was also judged on a process of learning chemistry by using songs to assist with memorization.  It was noted that our students showed a great deal of courage and character in the competition.  Their coaches are proud of the students effort and are excited about the future opportunities the team will have.  It is truly a blessing and witness of Gods work to watch our students in action showing kindness and professionalism in a competitive environment.

Spiriting St. Louis Mission Trip

Posted on 2014-12-12

The MCS Middle Schoolers took to the streets of St. Louis to spread Chrismas Cheer through the Spiriting St. Louis mission trip.  The 6th and 7th grade students prepared chili and packed up the toy donations to be taken over to St. Louis.  The 8th grade students were the hands and feet of Christ as they spent the day delivering the toys and serving chili to people in need.  Thank you God for giving us the opportunity to do your work.
